Doing what we do best. A late night drive for coffee and a change of ambience.
Photo of me driving stolen from Peter #.

We have been going out for coffee for almost three years now. It's funny how our situations back then just fell into place for us to discover we both enjoyed sitting at a cafe and conversing about what is on our mind. Now here we are, still enjoying ourselves and driving even further than before for our enjoyment.

We had just sat down at The Moon on Saturday when I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. For a moment I freaked out (-1 manliness) but then I noticed that it was Tiffy. Running into somebody I know is a notable event because it rarely happens to me. Due to this rareness there is no schema in my mind for the brief hi/bye style of conversation. I think I talk to much in that situation and unintentionally keep the person around for much longer than they anticipated. Whoops.

Today I said good bye to Toni by organising a farewell lunch for us. We ate at The Lucky Shag. My BLT was fine, nothing amazing, and thus I deem it to be overpriced.

I'm always complaining about people leaving (mostly complaining to myself) but only because I am not leaving too. It's a little baffling to think that if I didn't screw up my degree then I would have been booked on that same flight as Toni. Oh well, there's no rush. Good things come to those that wait . . etc.

I am sunburnt.

Unproductive but enjoyable

On Wednesday I watched The Butterfly Effect. It was surprising because I had no idea what to expect from it. All I really knew about the movie was who plays the lead character (and that was enough for me to not watch it until now). I found that the structure of this movie teeters on a small amount of dialogue by the doctor. It either explains everything or causes one giant continuance error. Basically I think spoiler ). The hollywood style and stale camerawork is a shame. Overall though I found the movie (and Amy Smart's bubble butt) to be enjoyable. It was a very good choice by Nuala to show this movie to me. I predict it will one day have the status of a midday movie that some networks will play on school holidays. Much like The Goonies or Logan's Run which were always shown when I was younger.

Tuesday afternoon I was in the city with Yen and Sehee. Yen knew I wanted to look for new shirts so we ended up going shopping. Both of them helped to pick some shirts and they made me try them on! I usually do the typical guy thing of using blind luck instead of trying things on. It was beneficial to do it their way because we managed to weed out the not-so-good items. I bought the two shirts that we all agreed were best suited to me. I think the girls realised how men get a tiny portion of a shop compared to women. Most stores for both sexes have about one quarter of the shop for men and three quarters for women.

Over the next few hours we wandered aimlessly around Borders and other stores. We met with Kim, Sehee said good bye, Tiff showed up after work for 5 minutes, and then a moment later Nuala joined us for half an hour or so. Unfortunately Nuala couldn't stay with us for very long. So Kim, Yen and myself went to dinner. Il Padrino's was the winner. I had a Pizza with fresh tomato, onion, and cheese (number 42 on the menu). It was superb. We were given a good discount on the meal simply because they forgot to put cutlery on the table and the manager saw me getting up to fetch a fork for Kim. We also realised that it was almost one year ago that the three of us got together and ate there. This was like reliving an old event.

It was 1400 when we met in the city earlier that afternoon and that evening we finished our dinner at 2130. Those hours flew past very quickly. We said farewell to Kim and then I took Yen home. That was the end of the night. As far as unproductive days go, it was a good one.

This morning I changed the batteries in my beard trimmer and quivered in fear with the raw power I held within my hands.

Ketchup

Tuesday night I went to il Padrino for pizza with Kim and Yenners. Got so full. We ordered Tagliatelle (Pasta), Vegetarian Pizza, and Prosciutto/Funghi Pizza. Then we went and had Bubble Tea from Utopia. I had the Green Tea & Honey with Sago. There were pictures taken - I'll post them when I get them. [Bam!]

The reason for going out was to catch up and say good bye to Kim who is buggering off to Korea and then Malaysia until February.

Later Tiffany and her sister Nikki (I hope that was her name, damn fuzzy memory) joined Kim and myself at Utopia. Tiff regaled us with stories of her new job while we occasionally stopped to listen to the engineering students screaming upstairs in one of the karaoke booths. Before we knew it the owners were turning off the TV's in an effort to get us out of there. It was midnight and we were just sitting around watching the music videos.

It's kind of sad that Tiff, Kim, and Yen have all finished uni now. I only just got to know them.

On the way home I drove around with the window down. The air seemed really fresh.

Christmas is on the way in full force. I keep telling myself I don't need a Wii. Will I crumble?

Lately I've been re-doing all the sudoku games in Brain Age. I am the most exciting person in the world at the moment.

Next post - a quick guide to remedy a simple error in English on the internet.

Foody food food

There were so many people at pasar malam last night. I bumped into a few people I knew so I ended up staying longer than planned.

There was so much food and I just didn't know what to have. Bulgogi, fish balls, prawns, flavoured-shaved-ice, and various vegetarian foods I can't remember the name of were devoured in the 4 hours I was walking around.

The most notable store was a seafood place which took 45 minutes to get through the line. What was the result? Average seafood at a high price.

I missed out on a Japanese dinner and Karaoke to go to this. Was it worth it? Food wise, definitely. The shitty music wasn't worth missing out on karaoke though.
