Tomorrow, Yen will be moving many thousands of kilometres away to Canberra. I'm going to miss our fun times (typically involving the eating of pizza or the drawing of blood for donation purposes).

Twenty people turned up at Sebastian's Italian Restaurant in East Vic Park for her farewell dinner. Luckily I happened to know two of the people sitting next to me which made the night that much more enjoyable. I had Grilled French Cutlets served with a creamy mash and a rich demi for my main course. It sounds nice but it wasn't very satisfying. We all had to ask what 'demi' was and we were told it's just a fancy term for gravy.

We had our 'last lunch' together a little over a week ago. This is note worthy because afterwards I ate my first and last ice cream of 2007. I won't lie, it tasted magnificent. It is mind boggling to think I hadn't eaten an ice cream all year. I wonder when I will have my one ice cream of 2008?

beach view

Nuala took me to Jimmy Deans for lunch. I had never been there before. It is one of those places that attempts to look like a rock and roll diner. The theme is understated, thankfully.

I had a Whoopie Burger (150g meat patty, mayo, tomato ketchup, salad, tomatoes), Chips, and Pineapple Juice.

The view from my seat was of the beach. It reminded me of when I was young and used to always go to the beach. Although the water looked lovely I have no strong urges to ever set foot in the ocean again. I have nothing against the ocean but I prefer to appreciate it from a distance these days.

I want to try and finish my gift shopping tomorrow.

numb with anger

A mishap while trimming the side of my beard this morning has left me so very angry. Basically the attachment on the beard trimmer fell off and when I looked back up I was missing one side of my beard. I don't know if I should shave it all off or leave the mo and chin fluff while waiting for the sides to re-grow to the desired length.

The importance of holding down Y.

Empty days recently. No enthusiasm to fill them either. OK, that was a lie. If it were the truth I wouldn't go out and try to rid the boredom. One would think I'd make the most of these weeks but I guess not. Soon I'll be back at uni and it will take up my time, I'll be happy for the repetitive tasks but complain nonetheless.

Some mornings I sit in the kitchen for 20 minutes looking in the open cupboards. First I make a cup of instant coffee and then try to imagine what a good breakfast meal would be. Usually it turns out to be an egg with toast. I hate eating eggs, they are disgusting things. Yet they are also flavoursome and filling things.

You think you don't want to buy anything and then all of a sudden there's a sale on.
  • Carnivàle Season 1 + 2
  • Six Feet Under Season 1 - 5
  • War Stories LE CD
  • Nights Temper EP (A Prelude to War Stories) 7" Vinyl
  • Resident Evil 4 (Wii)

  • I was supposed to capture the my disdain for buying but ended up with curiosity. The week prior I had stated how happy I was to be saving money and being sensible.

Everybody is asking me what I'm doing after graduation. Everybody. I think everybody knows my obvious options. I come back with the same reply every time. Uncertainty annoys as much as future possibility.

Last Tuesday I was at Peter's house to sing along to the Cat Stevens Majikat DVD. It's difficult to believe such an event hasn't occurred before.

If I don't find me a honey to help me spend my money, I'm going to have to blow this town.

I have decided to overdress and wear my suit for tonight. I have been informed that everybody else will be completely casual and yet my decision does not falter.

Tonight I will be the proverbial sore thumb from stories of old.

I like the shiny buttons. (yes I picked one of the dopiest photos of the 50 I took in photobooth)

    28 days later

Friday marked my 28 days of intentional laziness in regards to shaving. Now I have two weeks break from classes which means I have another 14 days I can leave it and try to appear more manly. It's a difficult task, I know, but one can only try.

Last night I had dinner at the Kimchee House in Northbridge (66 Roe St // next to Billy Lee's Chinese Restaurant). It's a nice place. There were 8 or 9 of us and the table was filled with mouth watering food. My order was the dakbulgogi and I was very pleased. I have no idea how much the food cost but it was really good. There was an American guy named Dave who at some point went downstairs and paid for everything without telling anyone. That would have been kind of expensive but I'm happy not to complain about a free meal.

The Doctor has his new companion, Martha Jones. I ignored most of the shitty publicity shots of her and waited to watch her first episode this morning. That girl is actually incredibly attractive.

The CD player in my car keeps spitting out every disc I put in it. This is sad because the radio doesn't work either. Last night I was driving home talking and singing to myself. I need a new CD player.

    Blake of the Day.

Was asked to join the Korean club at Curtin today. I said I'd be happy to help. What got me most interested was the prospect of having a club shirt - oh how the thought of club shirts fill me with glee.

Today I realised how much extra work I need to put into my language learning. At the moment I'm cruising at a low level. To remedy this I will, starting tomorrow, be doing everything I've ever thought would improve my learning ability. This includes finding a way to turn off English in my head during uni hours. Seriously, it gets in the way like you wouldn't believe. The inside of my mind probably looks like somebody tripped over two buckets. One was filled with English and the other filled with Korean. Now there is just this incomprehensible mess on the floor.
I never said I was good at what I do.

I have been informed that Children of Men has been released here (or is about to be). I must purchase it. I'm hoping it will have a better cover than the crap one I've been seeing online. If not I will have to print my own cover from the cinema release posters.

oh and today I saw such a beautiful sight. What was once a Dell lab in 501.304 is now an iMac lab. Such a beautiful sight of 24 brand new 17" C2D's. Unfortunately they all load into Windows XP by default. Heterodoxy! I checked and thankfully they have set up OS X for people like I. The only loss is that they have disabled the language preferences. So that pretty much smegs me up royally in terms of usability. I may have to send the IT staff a kindly worded e-mail.
It reminds me of a quote. "You can't have your cake and eat her too"
That was crass of me. I apologise.

Had a good time catching up with the uni ladies last night. Toni gave me a gift from NZ. It escapes my mind what it actually is so I will just say, green-rock-necklace-thinger.
While watching Iron Chef Marie had her partner in life (and possibly crime), Iron Chef Jamie, put together many pizza's of the yummy variety.
After some general tomfoolery we ventured to the moon and pulled Peter into it at the last moment. It was a joyous time for all.

I like nicknames but I lack the life skill of coming up with positively fantastic names. Still, I am glad I am not the worst. This is represented by the following blurry picture of a received sms.
